Antisemitic Nazi-Rapper Charged With Hate Crime In Alberta
A bizarre rampage in a small Alberta town involving a filmmaker, a stolen truck, and vandalizing a government building with anti-Semitic slurs has resulted in a charge of public incitement of hatred being added on Tuesday to a slew of other alleged offenses.
Kelvin Zawadiuk of Edson, who made a Nazi-themed film in 2011, appeared in court after the 8000 residents of his town were shocked by news on Saturday morning that a truck:
* was stolen from an electric company,
* drove through the chain link fence towards the provincial office building,
* rammed the front doors,
* drove through the main floor lobby and out the back doors,
* and ended up hitting the court section of the complex.
The most shocking detail, of course, was that while occupied with careening on the rampage, the driver took the time to leave evidence of slurs against Jews.
The town, whose mosque was hit by arson last June, has an estimated 10 Jewish residents.
There was more to Kelvin Zawadiuk's interest in the arts than just making films, TheJ.ca has learned.
Prior to directing his debut film Blue Eyed Devil, a contemporary movie about a charasmatic Nazi skinhead in 2011, Zawadiuk had presented an alter ego as a white rapper.
On the cover of 'The THE HATE VS. THE LOVE "LA HAiNE" the death of kelvin zawadiuk', a CD made in 2006, he is posing, with a razer blade between his lips.
His nom-de-rap is a French term meaning The Hated. The titles listed on the cover reflect moody interspection and angst including at least one about suicide, but none of the language is overtly race-related.
On the Angelfire page for the CD, he wrote: "I just wish that who matters to me truly would hear this cd and find out for herself what it all means and what she ran away from... and I wish it would mean more to her than a brush off her back ... I hope in death I will be better understood, and the people that I held dear will finally recognize who I am"
After that, though, his online musicology page shows a definate turn to Nazicology and to his own demise, the preamble concluding "the book may be available sooner than you gambled."
"Soon to be available will be the publishing of my journals. Giving a bit of a glimpse into the thousands of conflicting voices that apparently all belong to me. I am LAHAiNE. Kelvin Zawadiuk is his predecessor/benefactor/creator/handler with a Judeo-Christian namesake. He has been dead or enveloped by the juggernaut that exists simply to wrangle and rein the influences that cause such crisis and division within the headspace. I'll leave you with a few words, and please check back, as the book may be available sooner than you gambled. "
The manifesto then veered into vivid, lurid, and unprintable descriptions of militaristic assault, derogatory remarks about alternative sexualities, and general anarchy, hoping that "Mass suicide ... becomes a daily event where people kill themsevles on Facebook and Instagram..."
As for his later musical offerings, a MySpace page last revised in 2014 showed a number of CD's he performed and produced, and photos including a reference to a trip to New Jersey.
The cover of king of the worms portrays Zawadiuk, smoke hanging from his mouth, in front of a graffiti-art cartoon of a male crucified on a Swastika with a Christian cross underneath it.
A CBC Report confirmed one song on TRIUMPH OF THE ILL is entitled Zyklon B, the poison gas used to exterminate Jews in Auschwitz.
Lyrics extolling Hitler are included in the rap and Nazi imagery abounds on his page.
As reported in our previous story, when Blue Eyed Devil was in post-production, star James Brooks was charged with 3 other men for assault in events that were associated with Blood & Honour white nationalist flyers.
Zawadiuk repeated that key phrase on Facebook last year.
The website Anti-Racist Canada reminded readers of Zawadiuk's previous affiliations, while noting that B&H was a rebranding of the Aryan Guard:
"Despite supporting two members of WEB that had broken with the then Aryan Guard, Zawadiuk also appears to have been close to Aryan Guard founder/leader (later rebranded as Blood & Honour) Kyle McKee and other members of the group" wrote Anti-Racist Canada.
As expected, charges Zawadiuk face include committed breaking and entering, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, theft, mischief under $5,000 and failure to comply with a probation order.
