In a recent visit to Israel in December 2023, Majed El Shafie, President and Founder of One Free World International (OFWI), shared insights from his unique perspective as a former Muslim who converted to Christianity, survived persecution in Egypt, and eventually sought asylum in Canada. El Shafie, known for leading rescue missions for religious minorities globally, including Yazidis and Uyghur Muslims, emphasized the importance of his Christian-Egyptian background in contributing to OFWI’s latest report on the Hamas invasion and attack titled “Anatomy of an Attack: The Truth Behind October 7th.”

Growing up in Egypt with a family deeply rooted in politics, El Shafie’s journey from being raised to hate Jews to becoming a vocal advocate for religious freedom is both compelling and inspiring. His personal experience of imprisonment and torture in Egypt for converting to Christianity adds weight to his commitment to human rights causes.

El Shafie’s recent visit marked his second since the outbreak of war, aimed at presenting the findings of the OFWI report to Israel’s Foreign Ministry. The report delves into the details of the Hamas attack on October 7th, uncovering surprising connections between Hamas and ISIS.

One notable revelation is the direct link between Hamas and ISIS, with more than 11 groups joining forces in the October 7th attack. El Shafie highlighted the historical connection of ISIS-affiliated groups operating in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula, bordering the Gaza Strip. These groups increased their activities after the removal of then-Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi in 2013, prompting a crackdown by current President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in 2015.

According to El Shafie, Palestinians affiliated with these groups participated in the October 7th attack in Israel, evident from authentic ISIS flags found in southern border communities’ post-attack. The OFWI report also addresses Gazan civilian involvement as accomplices, including hostage kidnapping, widespread looting, and implicates the Islamist Iranian regime in the massacre.

In response to recent proposals, El Shafie vehemently opposes giving safe passage to Hamas leaders out of Gaza, drawing parallels with ISIS and Al-Qaeda leaders. He questions why the same courtesy was not extended to these terrorist organizations.

El Shafie’s message to the families affected by the attack goes beyond the events of October 7th, emphasizing the resilience of the Jewish spirit. The OFWI report not only sheds light on the intricacies of the attack but also serves as a call to action for addressing the broader issues of extremism and rising antisemitism in Western countries.

We do news differently!

Our positioning as a Zionist News Media platform sets us apart from the rest. While other Canadian Jewish media are advocating increasingly biased progressive political and social agendas, TheJ.Ca is providing more and more readers with a welcome alternative and an ideological home.

We revealed the incursion of anti-Israel progressive elements such as IfNotNow into our communities. We have exposed the distorted hateful agenda of the “progressive” left political radicals who brought Linda Sarsour to our cities, and we were first to report on many disturbing incidents of Nazi-based hate towards Jews across Canada.

But we can’t do it alone. We need your HELP!

Our ability to thrive and grow in 2020 and beyond depends on the generosity of committed readers and supporters like you.
