In the heart of Uganda, nestled within the picturesque Itonko Village of Namutumba, a remarkable community thrives. Known as the Ahavat Israel Jewish Community, this congregation of 100 devout individuals has been on an inspiring journey of faith, resilience, and unity.
Led by their spiritual guide, Mukulu Nathan, this vibrant community came into existence just last year, in 2022. Despite facing formidable challenges, their unwavering commitment to their Jewish heritage and faith shines brightly.
One of the most distinctive aspects of the Ahavat Israel Jewish Community is their place of worship—a temporary synagogue. This synagogue, while filled with the warmth of its congregants, lacks a roof, proper seating, and prayer books. Worshippers stand throughout their services, deeply devoted to their faith, even when the sun beats down on them during Shabbat prayers.
Their dedication to their faith shines through the modesty of their religious possessions. With just one Sidur Sim Shalom as their prayer book and a single Chumash serving as their Sefer Torah, the Ahavat Israel Jewish Community makes the most of what they have, cherishing every moment of worship.
However, their resourcefulness doesn’t end there. This tight-knit community observes Kashrut, honors Shabbat, and celebrates Jewish holidays and festivals with deep reverence and enthusiasm. Despite the challenges they face, their faith remains unshakeable.

While devotion to their faith is paramount, the Ahavat Israel Jewish Community encounters numerous trials in their daily lives. Access to clean drinking water is a major concern, forcing them to use contaminated water from wells and streams shared with animals. This precarious situation often leads to health issues, including typhoid.

Malaria is another persistent threat due to the lack of mosquito nets. The absence of medical resources compounds these health challenges, leaving community members vulnerable to preventable illnesses.
Poverty is an overarching issue in their village, with most residents residing in grass-thatched houses. Rent payments become an added burden for those, like Mukulu Nathan and his family, who cannot afford permanent housing. The financial hardships are exacerbated by a scarcity of food, making it challenging to meet their basic nutritional needs.
Despite these formidable adversities, the Ahavat Israel Jewish Community in Namutumba remains steadfast in their faith, standing as a testament to the enduring power of belief and community. They are a reminder that even in the face of profound challenges, the human spirit can thrive through unity, resilience, and unwavering devotion to faith.

We revealed the incursion of anti-Israel progressive elements such as IfNotNow into our communities. We have exposed the distorted hateful agenda of the “progressive” left political radicals who brought Linda Sarsour to our cities, and we were first to report on many disturbing incidents of Nazi-based hate towards Jews across Canada.
But we can’t do it alone. We need your HELP!
