Overcoming Obstacles, One Conversation at a Time
Did you know that English language proficiency ranks as the number one obstacle to social and economic mobility in Israel? Israel Connect is on a mission to change that by offering a solution that not only improves language skills but also opens doors to higher education and economic growth. Through immersive weekly sessions conducted over Zoom, this extraordinary program connects mentors with Israeli students, helping them hone their English skills and achieve their dreams.
Decade of Impact
Celebrating its 10th anniversary, Israel Connect’s journey began in 2013 as a heartfelt response to the call of Israeli educators. Originating as a grassroots network of volunteers in Canada, the initiative rapidly evolved into a global nonprofit organization with over 1,000 dedicated mentors. The impact was swift and significant: the initial group of students showed remarkable improvements in English proficiency, sparking a demand for more native English tutors. In just two years, Israel Connect’s reach expanded, forming partnerships with the Israeli Ministry of Education and supporting hundreds of students across numerous schools in the country.

Israel Connect’s approach is simple yet powerful: mentorship. Dedicated mentors, like you, join hands with eager students who are determined to enhance their English language skills. Through engaging weekly 45-minute video sessions conducted from the comfort of their homes, mentors facilitate one-on-one conversations, bolster reading comprehension, and develop vocabulary. This immersive approach not only builds language skills but also boosts confidence, helping students prepare for the English-focused university entrance exams that will shape their academic futures.
