The West Bank In Canada – A Comparison

How much land would Canadians give away, if this was happening in Canada?

Judea and Samaria legally and morally belong to the Jewish State. Canada needs to think carefully about the ramifications of supporting Palestinian claims to the land- by making a domestic comparison. (Photo: english.wafa.ps)

In Canada today, virtue signalling is a very popular pastime. We try to save the world from climate change, but in doing so we have ruined our oil industry. Then we criticize other countries for not following our example. We used to  rant  that other countries were too lax in their fight against the covid virus before we knew of all its side effects.  We support the decisions of the dictatorship dominating United Nations, pay some of their expenses, and donate to some of their suggested countries in need.

Now we find that some of the positions of the United Nations are far from virtuous, but are self-serving. For all our supposed virtue, we have not gained the respect of other nations. Canada has been supportive of the Palestinians in the West Bank, that is or the area that has for millennium been called Judea and Samaria.  Is that more virtue signalling or is it a virtuous cause that Canada would espouse within Canada?

Let’s look at what Palestinians in the West Bank – in Judea and Samaria – would look like if transposed to Canada.

Judea and Samaria were part of the area allocated to the Jewish people by the League of Nations and then adopted by the United Nations. It was conquered by Jordan and became part of Jordan in 1948 and then re-conquered by Israel in 1957. It was offered to the Palestinians in return for peace with Israel but that offer was not accepted.

Now the Palestinians are seeking that area as theirs, with the call of ““From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.” If that call were made by Canadian Natives in Canada would Canada still support it? Would Canada support giving relatively the same amount of land to the Native people who we displaced in Canada?

On a personal level, I do not know of one Canadian who has offered to donate his home in Toronto or Ottawa to a Native Canadian family. However the policy must be compared on a country to country basis.

lt must be remembered that the Palestinians have pay for slay policy, the modern equivalent to paying for every Jewish scalp.

Legally, Judea-Samaria belongs to Israel by right of conquest, settlement, and the consent of International law, the same way that all areas in Canada are part of Canada. The question is whether the Palestinians deserve to be given those areas for settlement. Canada seems to waive its virtuous flag and say yes. Let’s look at what the Palestinians want, apply it to Canada and see whether Canadians would remain steadfast in their support of the equivalent of a Palestinian state in Canada.

Moral questions are often solved by the question “What would Jesus have done? This is an interesting question, so I ask “What would Canadians do? We often support the Palestinians in their terrorism against Israeli citizens.

We criticize Israel for too strongly defending itself against hundreds of rockets from Palestinian or Arab areas.  Palestinians have a pay for slay policy, similar to the Native American policy of scalping. Would we ignore that? Would we ignore the murder of White people in our streets or the celebration of terrorists who kill of Jews in the name of Allah? These policies would not continue under a Palestinian government only because Jews would be completely excluded from the new country, which would thus be a new apartheid- type of country.

Without thinking of the realities of a Judea-Samaria run by the Palestinians, sort of a large Gaza Strip, it all sounds very noble. It makes us feel good. It sounds good. Would we support the equivalent in Canada if all that action was against us?

Let’s take a closer look and assume that Native Canadians, who I will call the First Nations, are now in the same positions as the Palestinians. They, like the Palestinians under-utilized the land many years ago when it was under their control.

Israel is a much smaller country than Canada. The Palestinians are claiming ownership of the West Bank. That is the heartland of Israel and amounts to about 1/4 of all of Israel. The equivalent is for First Nations to ask for 1/4 of the heartland of Canada, which is about equivalent to all of Quebec and Ontario. How many Canadians would really give away, Ontario and Quebec to a hostile group of First Nation people?

The Palestinians also want the area “from the river to the sea”. That is their desire and their chants. In Canada that would a request for all of Ontario and Quebec from the St. Lawrence River to the Arctic Ocean. The rest of the Palestine chant says, “may Palestine be free”. In practice the Palestinians would kill all of the Jews living in the West Bank. That is the equivalent of threatening to kill all white people or non-First Nations people living in Ontario and Quebec.

Now, having looked at and understood the comparison, do you still think that Canadians should support the Palestinians? Do you think that Israelis would financially and emotionally support the First Nations? How would Canadians feel if Israel supported the aims of the First Nations? Would they applaud their virtue signaling?

Support for the Palestinians, who have proven themselves to be vicious, undisciplined rulers in Gaza, is not well thought out. The equivalent would be disastrous for Canada or any country.

Canada should not support the Palestinian claim for Judea-Samaria. It is land that legally and historically belongs to Israel. The world does not need another terrorist country in the Middle-East.
