Falfala Beach Soccer Club from the Israeli Arab town of Kfar Qassem etched their names in history as they became the first Israeli team to secure the prestigious Euro Winners Cup. In a captivating showdown held in Portugal, the team emerged victorious, defeating Italy’s Lenergy Pisa with a score of 5-3 in the finals.

Their path to glory began with a commanding 9-2 victory over France’s Marseille in the quarterfinals. Falfala’s momentum continued in the semifinals, where they triumphed over Spain’s Huelva with a 4-2 win. The team showcased their resilience and determination throughout the tournament.

The finals against Italy proved to be a riveting encounter. Falfala took the lead twice with remarkable goals by Swiss goalkeeper Eliott Mounoud. However, Pisa managed to equalize both times. It was Falfala’s captain and defender, Amer Yatim, who sealed the victory with a penalty goal, securing an unforgettable triumph for Israel.

Forward Ahmad Gabarin Jabareen, reflecting on the win, conveyed the indescribable feeling of claiming the Euro Winners Cup. He emphasized the team’s unwavering belief, stating, “It wasn’t easy, but those who believe make it. In the finals, we said there was no turning back; we played against a strong team.” Their unwavering determination and mindset played a crucial role in their success.

Established in 2007, the Falfala Beach Soccer Club has now secured an impressive tally of six championships. Participating in three Euro Winners Cup tournaments, they have reached the match before the quarterfinals on three occasions, showcasing their consistent excellence. Last year, the team secured a commendable third-place finish in the European championship.

Team owner Amer Nimer, overwhelmed with joy, described the win as an indescribable feeling and an amazing milestone for Israeli soccer. He expressed his emotions, stating, “There are no words. I called my mother and father and told them: ‘I got a trophy.’ That was the most important to me.” The team’s triumph has brought immeasurable pride and satisfaction to Nimer and the entire Falfala community.

The team’s international composition adds to its diverse and talented roster. Brazilian defender Deiverson Dmais and three Swiss athletes – Mounoud, forward Glenn David Hodel, and defender Noel Ott – have played integral roles in Falfala’s success. Their combined skills and contributions have further strengthened the team’s performance and exemplify the spirit of unity and collaboration in sports.

As a well-deserved celebration, the team is taking a two-day vacation in Istanbul, Turkey, to savor their remarkable achievement before returning to Israel on Wednesday, proudly bringing their new trophy home. The Falfala Beach Soccer Club’s historic win in the Euro Winners Cup not only showcases their sporting prowess but also serves as an inspiring symbol of unity, representing both Israel and the Arab community with immense pride.
