The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs is launching a unique training program for high school students to promote Israel on social media. The program is designed to create a task force of Ministry of Foreign Affairs youth who will work to address the many challenges Israel faces in the international arena, such as disinformation and lack of awareness. The program is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and will be delivered to all local authorities in Israel.
The training program will target high school students in grades 10-12 and will provide them with tools in advertising, marketing, and social-community-political branding. The course will be conducted in cooperation with the local authorities and the Targets Institute, and its goal is to give young people an opportunity to integrate into key positions in diplomacy and provide a young voice for Israeli public information.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Eli Cohen stated “I believe in giving everyone an equal opportunity and believe in the power of young men and women to lead a change in consciousness and global discourse and to contribute greatly to the image of Israel. The tools they will acquire in the program will help them in the future to integrate into the top of political diplomacy.”
How the program will work:
The program will act as a response to the propaganda of radical elements and extreme ideologies against the State of Israel and anti-Semitism in general. It will be operated as a pilot for two years, starting with 10th-grade students in the first year and adding 11th and 12th grades in the second year.
The students who complete the course will lead a change of consciousness and image in social media, participate in international digital conferences and discussion forums, and initiate any means to promote Israel’s position. The program will equip them with knowledge and tools, assign them to work frameworks, and assist the public diplomacy system.
The program will provide digital lecturers and lecturers from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to lead the contents in front of the future explainers. The young people will learn tools in advertising, marketing, and social-community-political branding, delegitimizing campaigns, and spreading positive information about Israel through social media.
They will also learn public speaking, body language, debate, and basics of photography, video editing, and Photoshop. The program will provide knowledge to create social discourse platforms and tools to deal with crises at the community, state, and international levels. They will also learn about the role of young Israeli leadership in dealing with anti-Semitism and anti-Israel campaigns.
