Samples of antisemitism in federally financed government programs (3)

The Canadian War Museum (CWM) is a Crown corporation and claims to be “one of the most respected museums for the study and understanding of armed conflict”.

The Museum’s mandate is to: “Enhance Canadians’ knowledge, understanding and appreciation of events, experiences, people and objects that reflect and have shaped Canada’s history and identity and also to enhance their awareness of world history and cultures.”

In 2021, merely two days after the conclusion of the National Summit Against Antisemitism organised by the government concluded, the CWM in Ottawa hosted a World Press Photo exhibition which contains images that glorify Palestinian terrorism and ignores Israel’s legitimate security.

The exhibit stated: “Habibi, which means ‘my love’ in Arabic, chronicles love stories set against the backdrop of one of the longest and most complicated conflicts in modern history. The photographer aims to show the impact of the conflict on Palestinian families, and the difficulties they face in preserving their reproductive rights and human dignity. The photographer chooses…to focus …on people’s refusal to surrender to imprisonment, and on their courage and perseverance to survive in a conflict zone.”

The exhibit further stated:

“Nearly 4,200 Palestinian security detainees are being held in Israeli prisons, some serving sentences of 20 years or more. Conjugal visits are denied and physical contact is forbidden, except for children under the age of ten.

“Since the early 2,000’s, long-term Palestinian detainees hoping to raise families have been smuggling semen out of prison, hidden in gifts to their children. Habibi (my love) chronicles people’s courage and perseverance against the backdrop of one of the longest and most complicated conflicts in modern history.”

There is really nothing complicated about the conflict. Hamas rejects the existence of the State of Israel, wants to erase it and does not want peace proposals for an answer

One photo showed a portrait of a Palestinian named Atta Abdelgami, who is serving three life sentences in an Israeli prison, with an assault rifle which could be interpreted as lionizing terrorism. No context was given about why Abdelgami is in an Israeli jail and what earned him three life sentences. And so it goes with other terrorists throughout the exhibition. Mike Fegelman, Canadian War Museum Features Exhibit Glorifying Palestinian Terrorism, Honest Reporting Canada, August 15, 2021.

At no point does the exhibition state the truth of the matter, namely; that the alleged victims are in fact terrorists, the perpetrators of serious crimes against innocent Israeli Jewish victims and that consequently they are the sole authors of their own and their families’ misfortunes. Nor does the exhibit address the misfortunes and difficulties experienced by the families of the surviving victims in dealing with their fate. See: Part 5 supra;

Finally, at no point does the exhibition address the abjectly oppressive and utterly corrupt nature of the Hamas regime and the hardships experienced by Gazans and in particular the younger generations as a result of it. 5. Eric Rozenman summed up the situation accurately when he wrote: “There are three kinds of lies, Mark Twain said, attributing  the insight to Benjamin Disraeli, ”lies, damned lies and statistics”. Turns out there is a fourth: “pro-Palestinian”. Virtually everything described as pro-Palestinian is not.” Pro-Palestinian Means No Such Thing, Algemeiner, January 8, 2023

The Department of Heritage – The case of Laith Marouf

Marouf is a Palestinian Syrian national born in Jordan whose father had diplomatic immunity in Canada where Marouf lived for a period of time as a teen-ager. He is also connected to Beirut. He lived in Canada on a temporary residency permit until he obtained a Canadian passport in 2020. Julian Wood, Laith Marouf  was once barred from re-entering Canada, interviewed by CSIS, Alberta News February 13, 2023. He described Canada as “an apartheid state” because according to him it took some 32 years to obtain his citizenship.

To the best of the writer’s knowledge, the particulars of Marouf’s formal education, qualifications, and training relevant to the subject- matters of his government contracts are not in the public domain.

At the material dates, in connection with the contract in issue Marouf and his wife were the sole owners of Community Media Advocacy Centre (CMAC) with Marouf performing the contract.

Marouf’s avocation for vile antisemitism in Canada has been traced back 2001 when he was barred from Concordia University after he was twice caught spraying anti-Israel graffiti on university property, including the phrase “Israel is a racist State.” According to a Concordia statement at the time, when confronted by campus security, Marouf was involved in an altercation in which a “death threat was uttered and two security guards were slightly injured.”

In 2002, Marouf was a noted organizer of a riot outside Concordia University that prevented an on-campus talk by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Tristin Hopper, Trudeau government claim outrage at ‘anti-racism’ consultant they were praising as recently as April, National Post, August 22, 2022.

As a matter of fact, Marouf’s vile hatemongering had been so intense that even Twitter suspended his access on the grounds of “hateful conduct” and “the promotion of violence”; he then simply proceeded to open a new account under another name.

Marouf has been awarded government contracts since 2015 while he posted over 100 vile antisemitic messages against Jews, Israel and Israeli Jews.

“This was the Titanic of bad hires: an avowed supporter of Hezbollah terrorists, of genocidal Assad, spewing Goebbels-like venom against Jews & calling to kill them—hired by the Canadian government to teach ANTI-RACISM,” tweeted Hillel Neuer of UN Watch. “This is a colossal, catastrophic failure of whatever departments and programs are involved. Something is rotten there—with whoever hired Marouf, then with that person’s supervisor, and then all the way to the top to at least one minister, @HonAhmedHussen or @pablorodriguez” (Image: Twitter)

The payments by CRTC

During the period 2015- 2022, he received approximately, $600,000.00 from the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission’s broadcasting participation fund for “cost awards” i.e. being reimbursed for participating in CRTC hearings.

As a result of the disclosure of Malouf’s vile hateful behaviour, in October of 2022 the CRTC launched a payment review of its own

Notwithstanding the seriousness and urgency of the matter, the CRTC has yet to formulate a response to the problem let alone make a decision as to whether it will adopt the course of action taken by Minister Hussen. Given the leisurely pace of its deliberations, it would appear that the CRTC does not seem particularly keen to follow suit.

Indeed, back in October 2022, a spokeswoman for the CRTC told The Globe that the regulator would not ban CMAC from its proceedings because “it would be inappropriate to establish lists of parties that may or may not participate”.

And, based on the materials available from the CRTC, it would appear that for this participation Malouf was being paid four times the regular rate of $225 an hour because the CRTC was told that that “Marouf does not control the day to day operations of CMAC”. CRTC launches payment review over Laith Marouf affair, October 13, 2022; Jamie Sarkonak, Jamie Sarkonak: ’Anti-racist’ fond of antisemitic tweets had sway at the CRTC, National Post, August 23, 2022.
