Antisemitic allegations, actions and undercurrents in the House of Commons and beyond (7)

In April 2022, Terry Glavin, columnist of the National Post published his article titled “The curious case of Khalid Barakat”, where he raised concerns about this Palestinian man living in Vancouver. He asserted that the man is “a high-ranking member of a Palestinian terrorist organization Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) best known for dramatic airplane hijackings, and suicide bombings”.

On April 29, B’nai Brith Advocacy published a piece under the title “Canada Must Deport Senior PFLP Operative” where it reported that “it has been gathering intelligence, and urging the government and all relevant law agencies to act against Barakat.”

On May 3 of 2020, Senator Leo Housakos used his time in the Senate Question Period to ask the government about the Khaled Barakat scandal, and stated that B’nai Brith Canada has been alerting officials about Barakat for more than two years and that to date it had not received any response. Nor did the Senator, although during the proceedings Senator Marc Gold “acknowledged that the Government is aware of this national security concern.”

Appearing before the House of Commons Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security, Michael Mostyn, CEO of B’nai Brith “highlighted the case of Barakat and urged the Committee to ensure the existing Canadian laws are fully enforced against listed terrorist groups and members”. B’nai Brith Advocacy, “Lawmakers Urged to Take Meaningful Action Against Rise in Extremist Hate”, May 9, 2020

According to Jerusalem Post, Barakat has been residing sporadically in Vancouver, over the last 20 years. His wife who resides in Canada is also a PFLP member and the director of Samidoun, a registered Canadian corporation. The Israeli authorities consider this entity as a proxy for the PFLP and accused it of raising funds for terrorist activities. Michael Mostyn, A terrorist is living among civilians in Canada, Jerusalem Post, May 17, 2022

On June 3, 2022 B’nai Brith Advocacy published another news item titled B’nai Brith Alerts Ottawa about Conference at City Venue [Ottawa] Featuring Leader of Designated Terrorist Entity.

Needless to say, as a Canadian citizen, in the absence of a court order, he was fully entitled to speak to the assembly. And so he did on June 3, 2022.

In his speech to the Assembly of the International League of People’s Struggle (ILPS), Barakat demanded that Canada abolish its terrorist list. After all, he rhetorically asked: “What has the PFLP actually done against Canada and Canada’s interests?”

He said that he would not deny his support for the Palestinian and Lebanese “resistance” to please Prime Minister Justin Trudeau exclaiming: “F*ck Trudeau!” And he then went on to praise a bunch of terrorist organisations. MEMRI, June 17, 2022; MEMRI TV Clips nos. 9471, 9291, 7276 and 6100.

Finally, B’nai Brith published a video of the speeches and newspaper articles of Barakat where he admits his involvement with the PFLP. B’nai Brith Advocacy, In His Own Words: Canadian Resident Admits to Terrorist Links, June 8, 2022

Whatever the merits of the case against Barakat may be, Canada, thanks to the Trudeau government, the government of the very man Barakat is ready to f*ck in public can no longer strip him of his citizenship, if he has one, upon  his conviction for an offence against national security, even if Khaled has dual citizenship.

And this was not, by any means, an isolated incident.

In April 2022, the Grandview Calvary Baptist Church provided space for the “Iftar in the Old City,” organized by the Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM). Despite its innocuous-sounding name, the event description made clear the purpose was to honour Ghassan Kanafani, through a scholarship named after him.

Kanafani was a leading member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), a designated terrorist entity in Canada. In that role, he forged connections between the PFLP and other far-left terrorist groups, thereby facilitating the 1972 Lod Airport Massacre in which 26 civilians were murdered, including a Canadian woman. Kanafani was assassinated by Israel later that year, for his role in the massacre.

The PYM is active in Canada has a long record of glorifying terrorism. In a 2017 email boosting the scholarship, the group hailed “Resistance, whether by pen or gun,” In 2021, the PYM hailed as a “martyr” Mohammad Shawkat Salima, in 2018, the PYM translated and posted the last words of “the Martyr Mohammad Tareq,” encouraging further terrorist attacks along the lines of Tareq’s, in which one Israeli was murdered and two others wounded. B’nai Brith Advocacy, Event Honouring Terrorist to Take Place at Vancouver Church, April 7,2022

We do news differently!

Our positioning as a Zionist News Media platform sets us apart from the rest. While other Canadian Jewish media are advocating increasingly biased progressive political and social agendas, TheJ.Ca is providing more and more readers with a welcome alternative and an ideological home.

We revealed the incursion of anti-Israel progressive elements such as IfNotNow into our communities. We have exposed the distorted hateful agenda of the “progressive” left political radicals who brought Linda Sarsour to our cities, and we were first to report on many disturbing incidents of Nazi-based hate towards Jews across Canada.

But we can’t do it alone. We need your HELP!

Our ability to thrive and grow in 2020 and beyond depends on the generosity of committed readers and supporters like you.
