לאחרונה התלוויתי לשר התקשורת הישראלי לשעבר איוב קרא בביקורו בעיר הרפאים אגדם שבחבל קרבאך, בחברת 22 מומחים זרים שנטלו חלק בדיון מעמיק באוניברסיטת אדה היוקרתית בבקו.
בתקופה הסובייטית חיו באגדם כ-100,000 תושבים, אך עם הכיבוש הארמני של 1993 נהרסה העיר וננטשה, והכובשים בזזו את בנייניה. כל מה שהשאירו הגולים מאחור, בין אם מקררים, מכונות כביסה, חפצים אישיים, או חומרי בנייה גולמיים שנתלשו מהקירות נמכר תמורת מאתיים דולר לבית לאיראנים שהרוויחו מההרס של עיר שלמה ומהטיהור האתני של חבל קרבאך. אחרי שגזלו ומכרו הכל, שרפו הפולשים את גגות העץ של המבנים שעדיין נותרו על מכונם.
ביקרנו בבית העלמין אימאראט בו נקברו בני האצולה של ממלכת קרבאך במאות ה-18 וה-19. הקברים נעלמו והארכיטקטורה הטורקית היפה של קברי המלכים הפכה לעיי חורבות לאחר שהארמנים השתמשו במציבות ההיסטוריות לדירי חזירים. זה היה יחסם למקום למרות שהוכר

כאתר מורשת עולמית. הארמנים גזלו את שכיות החמדה ומכרו אותן לסוחרים איראנים, כך סיפר לנו המדריך שהתלווה אלינו. הקברים נחפרו, העצמות הושלכו ושיני הזהב של הנפטרים נעקרו ונמכרו לאיראנים.
מאז שוחרר האזור ראינו שמשפחות רבות שתלו פרחים סביב הקברים ועיטרו אותם בתמונות יקיריהם, אך העצמות נעלמו מזמן, ולנפטרים לא תימצא מנוחה לעולם.
אימאראט לא היה האתר ההיסטורי היחיד שחולל על ידי הכובשים הארמנים. בעיר אגדם הם הפכו מסגד היסטורי משנת 1860 למגדל שמירה ודיר חזירים. לדברי המדריך, “זו הייתה הסיבה היחידה לכך שהמסגד הזה לא נהרס לגמרי. יותר מ-60 מסגדים נהרסו לחלוטין באזור”.
במוזיאון הלחם ההיסטורי שומרו לפני הכיבוש ככרות לחם מהם ניזונו חיילים סובייטים במלחמת העולם השנייה. היום לא נותר זכר מאותו ממצא יקר מציאות וכל שאר המוצגים שם נהרסו. גג המוזיאון נשרף וציור קיר אמנותי יפה הושחת כמעט לחלוטין.
קשה להבין את הסיבות לפשע הארמני הנתעב של הרס עיר שלמה. לא הבנתי מדוע השמידו נכס תרבותי נדיר כמו ככרות הלחם ממלחמת העולם. לא הבנתי את הדחף שלהם לאכסן סוסים וחזירים בתוך מסגד. לא הבנתי מדוע חיללו מאות קברים כדי לזכות בגרגירי זהב מועטים משיני המתים. לא הבנתי את ההיגיון מאחורי כל הפשעים החמורים האלה נגד האנושות.
אינני מבינה מדוע סוכנות אונסק”ו לא מצאה לנכון למחות על כל אתרי המורשת העולמית שנהרסו באגדם. היכן הקהילה הבינלאומית? איפה האו”ם? מדוע הקונגרס האמריקני כל כך פרו-ארמני, כאשר ארמניה היא שהפרה ארבע החלטות של מועצת הביטחון של האו”ם וביצעה טיהור אתני של אזור שלם?

מקסים גואין, חוקר במרכז ללימודי אירו-אסיה, אמר לי במהלך הביקור: “זו הפעם השנייה שלי באגדם. בשתי הפעמים ראיתי את ההרס הנרחב בעיר ובאזורים הכפריים שסביבה. ההרס הוא בכל מקום, כולל מוזיאון מלחמת העולם השנייה. שימי לב לכוונה הסדיסטית להשפיל את האוכלוסייה האזרבייג’נית. ניתן לומר שאם אתה רוצה ללמוד מה משמעותה של שנאה, לך לבקר באגדם ובאזור קרבאך, והבט במה שעוללו שם הגורמים הלאומנים במשטר הארמני”.
ד”ר דנה ברנט, מנהלת ישראל אקדמיה מוניטור, הצהירה: “לדעתי העובדה שהכל נהרס והושמד במהלך שלושים שנות הכיבוש משמעותית ביותר. זוהי שערורייה. זאת בושה שהמוזיאון תוחזק באופן כה כושל. המוזיאון הזה יכול היה להיות מקום פנטסטי ולראות אותו כך זה נורא, זה מקומם, זה בלתי נסבל”.
קורדל קרטר, חבר בוועדת הנשיא בבית הלבן, אמר כי בתחילה לא ידע דבר על שערוריית אגדם. “לא ראיתי כלום על זה בארה”ב. אני לא מבין למה זה קרה, מה הסיבה להרס הנורא הזה לו הייתי עד”. כעת, לאחר שהיה עד לאסון הזה, הוא חושב שצריכה להיות מודעות ציבורית רבה יותר לכך במערב. הוא לא לבד.
לאחר שצפה בהרס הנורא בקרבאך הכריז השר לשעבר איוב קרא, “אזרבייג’ן היא השליטה על אדמות קרבאך. זה לגיטימי. ארמניה חייבת לקבל את זה. אנשים מכל החוגים חייבים לדחוף למצוא פתרון כדי ששתי המדינות יוכלו לקיים מערכת יחסים טובה יותר. שלום הוא הדרך הנכונה. זה לא קל. זה לא יקרה מחר, אבל זה יכול לקרות בשנים הקרובות אם נעבוד קשה
