For over a century, Canada was a stable democratic country. New and dangerous programmes and ideologies could destroy the country. (Screencap: South Park)

Will Canada continue its path to be a great democracy or will it plunge into the questionable politics and moral quagmire of so many other nations?

I look at Canadian society today with great sadness, as I remember the days when Canadians would spontaneously and politely apologize to a chair that they had just kicked in error. Then the ideal life was the family of “Father Knows Best”. We were praised for being a peaceful bilingual country and for our efforts to make the world a better place.

That Canada has gone, and we are falling over a steep cliff into a world of self-righteous ignorance. Canada is a great country but is being urged to change by internal and external forces. If we don’t defend ourselves from moving towards false scenarios of a better and easier life where all is taken care of, we will face the poverty, anarchy, and dictatorship that engulfs most of the world.

Below are some of our new and dangerous programmes and ideologies that could destroy our Canada, our culture, our belief in religion, our ethics and morals, and our work ethic.

First, world governance is an impossible dream.

The International Court and the United Nations have shown themselves to be anti-Israel and generally not supportive of human rights. Despite massive western funding of poor countries, they have remained poor and their dictatorships have become stronger. Israel has shown that a small independent country can work without international advice or help. Giving any of our rights to an international organization is a mistake.

Canada has opened our doors to immigrants and refugees from countries torn to pieces by ISIS, religious hatred and poverty.

They come whether or not they want to be Canadians and adopt our values; just want to live on our social welfare system; or want to replace our systems with an Islamic, dictatorial, or communist form of government. No one will have to work, no one will have to do anything, and the government will provide. It is a great life, but unreal. For Canada to remain strong, it needs a strong workforce that will be happy to both struggle with the economic climate and to fit in with our culture.

Canada has always been basically a Protestant country.

Christianity has been at the core of our country, economically, socially, and politically. Religious values were targets to be aimed at, even if not always achieved. The Ten Commandments, Biblical ethics, and Judeo-Christian moral codes, including those relating to family and marriage, were always respected. Religious traditions originated millions of years ago. They produce good civilizations.

The breakdown of the institute of marriage harms our society and our children. We get rid of religious traditions, like marriage, at our peril. Without the Judaic-Christian ethic, without fighting for our values, we will become an Islamic dictatorship, another socialist dictatorship, or a banana republic.

The Woke generation is pushing many ideas which must be closely examined.

They sound good, but without historical perspective, which has been rejected by our latest generation, they will be found to be illogical and very detrimental to our country.

Critical Race Theory, The Great Replacement Theory, the rejection of historical perspective, the idea that feelings trump facts, the reliance on what we are told is the truth of science, the value of diversity, inclusion and equity, and the exercise of cancel culture, are all ideas that must be examined critically and not accepted as if we were sheep. They are ideas that constitute the perfect set-up for a dictatorship.

BDS has shown us that a good advertising campaign repeated constantly can overwhelm the truth.

This has already happened in universities where anti-Israel propaganda is unjustly vilifying Jews and Israel, and making it difficult for Jews to attend university.

Add to this the fact that our media is now supported or strongly influenced by the Federal government, and ordinary citizens can no longer believe what they read in the media – on the internet, in the newspapers or on TV or radio, and you have a country that is ripe for change, but not necessarily good change.

With tears in my eyes, I believe that unless Canada changes its political, social and moral path, Canada will go over the cliff and no longer be a good place for Jews, or anyone else, to live.

Jonathan Usher was born in Montreal. He graduated from Queen’s Law School in 1963 and moved to Toronto where he has lived since. In the past 20 years of retirement he has become a very prolific and published letter-to-the-editor writer and conservative, social iconoclast.

Thank you for choosing TheJ.Ca as your source for Canadian Jewish News.

We do news differently!

Our positioning as a Zionist News Media platform sets us apart from the rest. While other Canadian Jewish media are advocating increasingly biased progressive political and social agendas, TheJ.Ca is providing more and more readers with a welcome alternative and an ideological home.

We revealed the incursion of anti-Israel progressive elements such as IfNotNow into our communities. We have exposed the distorted hateful agenda of the “progressive” left political radicals who brought Linda Sarsour to our cities, and we were first to report on many disturbing incidents of Nazi-based hate towards Jews across Canada.

But we can’t do it alone. We need your HELP!

Our ability to thrive and grow in 2020 and beyond depends on the generosity of committed readers and supporters like you.

Monthly support is a great way to help us sustain our operations. We greatly appreciate any contributions you can make to support Jewish Journalism.
