UNRWA textbooks under PA rule deny the existence of Jewish holy places in Israel, including the Western Wall in Jerusalem, cropping a photograph to exclude the Jews who pray there. Students are taught: “The Al-Buraq Wall is part of the western wall of Al-Aqsa Mosque. Al-Aqsa Mosque, including the wall, is a Palestinian land and an exclusive right of the Muslims.”

The Canadian Antisemitism Education Foundation has ramped up a campaign challenging Parliament to suspend funding to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, saying “Canada is funding the terrorist training by UNRWA”. Canada is providing over $27M to their budget – the tenth leading donor – with no conditions on the allocation.
Asking her to take a lead role in the campaign, Thornhill MP Melissa Lantsman was sent a letter by CAEF with an attached study from the Center for New East Policy Research that was submitted to a Knesset committee. Entitled “Jews in Palestinian Authority Schoolbooks in UNRWA Use”, the report illustrated the curriculum’s erasure of Jewish history in the Holy Land, noting 3 fundamental themes in the schoolbooks:
1. De-legitimization of Israel’s existence and the Jews’ presence in the country, including the denial of their history there and the existence of any Jewish holy places there.
2. Demonization of both Israel and Jews, also religiously (with serious implications regarding the Jews’ image in the eyes of [Arab] children who come from a traditional society.)
3. The absence of a call for peace with Israel. Instead, there is a call for a violent struggle for the liberation of the whole country, including pre-1967 Israel. This struggle is given a religious color and terror is made an integral part thereof, with the accompanying meaning of encouraging the murder of Jews.
“These documents show the exact lessons approved by the Palestinian Authority for all UNRWA schools… The teaching of such hatred, the elimination of Israel from texts and the lies about Jews, Judaism, and the Jewish people are not less than child abuse against Arab children, preparing them to hate and kill, not for peace and co-existence.”
B’nai Brith spearheading petition to defund antisemitic NGOs
B’nai Brith Canada is supporting a group of respected community leaders who have launched a citizens’ petition to stop government funding to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that promote antisemitism. B’nai Brith will handle the technical and media aspects of the petition after being approached by the proponents.
Submitted to the House of Commons website, and to be tabled formally in Parliament in early June, the citizens’ petition is significant in targeting Federal Government aid to any domestic or foreign NGOs that promote or support antisemitism, as defined by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA). The Government of Canada adopted the IHRA working definition of antisemitism in June 2019, and it is now shared by more than 40 nations.
The petition will be tabled by Spadina – Fort York Member of Parliament Kevin Vuong.
“B’nai Brith is delighted to join this distinguished group of community leaders in supporting this important petition,” said Michael Mostyn, Chief Executive Officer for B’nai Brith Canada. “Canadians should not be footing the bill for promoting racism and hatred either here or abroad, whether by NGOs or others. We strongly urge those who stand against antisemitism and racism to sign this petition.”

University of Toronto withholding $11,000 from graduate student union
The University of Toronto’s vice-president and provost announced they withhold a portion of fees from the Graduate Students’ Union after waiting a year for the UTGSU to reel in their Boycott, Divestment, & Sanctions (BDS) caucus. The amount that will be withheld is equivalent to 0.86 percent of the overall society fee, or $10,918 in the current academic year.
The provost’s decision follows a complaint review by an independent student panel – the Complaint and Resolution Council for Student Societies (CRCSS) – in February 2021. The claim, brought forward by U of T graduate student Chaim Katz and supported by B’nai Brith Canada, challenged whether a student society at the university could “embark on a campaign of economic and academic warfare against people of a certain nationality, and forcibly conscript its members to the campaign by way of their membership fees?” The ruling determined the BDS Caucus Policy was not consistent with “open, accessible and democratic principles”, failed to meet the university’s “commitment to freedom of speech and expression”, and was discriminating against members based on nationality.
“The UTGSU has had a year to implement the ruling of the CRCSS,” said Vice-President and Provost Cheryl Regehr. “The university administration calls upon the Graduate Students’ Union to now reconsider their inaction and implement the recommendations of the CRCSS.
“We would also remind all units and student organizations that the university’s Statement on Freedom of Speech states that ‘the University’s primary obligation is to protect the free speech of all involved’. Debate must not be limited by preordainment conclusions. Individuals can also not be forced to hold specific views on controversial issues in order to participate in any aspect of university life.”
Regehr noted: “Debate must not be limited by preordainment conclusions. Individuals can also not be forced to hold specific views on controversial issues in order to participate in any aspect of university life.”

We revealed the incursion of anti-Israel progressive elements such as IfNotNow into our communities. We have exposed the distorted hateful agenda of the “progressive” left political radicals who brought Linda Sarsour to our cities, and we were first to report on many disturbing incidents of Nazi-based hate towards Jews across Canada.
