Naftali Bennett is now the new Prime Minister of Israel. Following his appointment, Shipan Kumer Basu, who heads the World Hindu Struggle Committee, congratulated Bennett, while stressing that he hopes that the new government will play a key role in maintaining the good relationship with India that existed when Benjamin Netanyahu was Prime Minister and will continue to play a key role in promoting peace globally.
Both Israel and India became independent around the same period of time. In 1992, India established full diplomatic relations with Israel. Since then, the relationship between Israel and India has only gotten stronger.
The two countries enjoy immense economic, military, strategic, agricultural, technological, and other forms of cooperation. As of 2014, India is Israel’s third largest trading partner in Asia and Israel’s tenth largest trading partner overall, standing at $4.52 billion not including military equipment.
Basu stressed that he hopes that the Bennett government will bring the Indian-Israeli relationship to new heights: “The Israeli government’s cooperation with India should continue. The relationship between India and Israel should be further strengthened. I hope he continues onward to make peace with more Muslim countries, including Bangladesh,” said Basu, who was complimentary of Netanyahu’s efforts with the Abraham Accords.
Although Modi was a close friend of Netanyahu, “Only the Israelis can decide who will be prime minister and who will not. We will welcome the new government of Israel and stress that we in India will always support Israel. Many nations are moving forward utilizing Israeli technology and we hope that this trend continues.”
Basu believes that the root of Muslim hostility towards Israel is ignorance, stating, “There are many misconceptions about Jews in the Muslim world. If all Muslims knew the truth about the Jewish people, they would forget the violence and hatred and seek true peace. The distance that remains between Israel and the Muslim countries is very unfortunate and should come to an end.”

On the domestic front, Basu called upon Bennett to support the oppressed Hindus, Buddhists and Christians of Bangladesh. This would be consistent with the Safadi Center for International Diplomacy, Research, Public Relations and Human Rights headed by Mendi Safadi.
“Israel will be able to reach even greater heights and make its country happier and more prosperous by maintaining good relations with every country in the world,” noted Basu.
In conclusion, he said: “We hope that the State of Israel will always stand up for the rights of the oppressed minorities in Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan and play a strong role for all people deprived of their basic rights.”

We revealed the incursion of anti-Israel progressive elements such as IfNotNow into our communities. We have exposed the distorted hateful agenda of the “progressive” left political radicals who brought Linda Sarsour to our cities, and we were first to report on many disturbing incidents of Nazi-based hate towards Jews across Canada.
