Over 1500 rockets were fired into Israel from the Gaza Strip since the weekend, with approx. 90% believed intercepted by the Iron Dome while over 150 fell inside the coastal strip. A 50-year-old woman was killed by a rocket in Rishon LeTzion, N12 reported. According to the report, eight others were injured when a rocket struck a bus in Holon. Among the injured is a five-year-old girl, who is in critical condition.
In Givatayim, four others were injured when a rocket hit a home. On top of that, two women were killed during the rocket attacks in Ashkelon. Rocket sirens were sounded last night throughout the Greater Tel Aviv area and the Sharon region.
This recent escalation comes as riots have been ongoing on the Temple Mount.
Iranian political theorist Reza Parchizadeh wrote on his Facebook page that Iran stands behind the latest escalation in violence: “A large wave of allegedly Iranian-made missiles were shot from the Gaza Strip towards Israel. The Islamist regime in Iran is resorting to its habitual brinkmanship in the Middle East once more while it is trying to soft-talk the West into yet another disastrous deal.”
The fact that Iranian-made missiles were fired at Israel during this latest barrage of rocket attacks was also confirmed by Sirwan Mansouri, a Kurdish journalist in the Middle East, who proclaimed: “There is only one way for Israel: to send the terrorist regime to the dustbin of history once and for all.”
Indeed, MEMRI reported that the pro-Iranian Palestinian terror groups have celebrated the rockets fired at Israel, as an Al Qaeda affiliate in Gaza and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad took responsibility for the rocket fire in recent days. Both the Islamic Jihad and Hamas have warned that the rocket fire will continue until Israel vacates the Temple Mount.
Simultaneously, MEMRI reported that an Iranian music video was published, proclaiming, “Israel will be crushed” and “we have come to annihilate you and throw you into the sea.”
Mendi Safadi, who heads the Safadi Center for International Diplomacy, Research, Public Relations and Human Rights, also believes that Iran stands behind the latest round of violence: “Iran continues its propaganda, hatred and threats to annihilate Israel. A few months ago, the world declared Never Again on Holocaust Memorial Day, yet they treat the New Nazis, the Islamic Republic of Iran, as a legitimate government, just as the Allies treated Hitler’s government as legitimate during the Holocaust. The West continues to look for ways to ease the sanctions, even though Iran has threatened to attack targets in Israel and has sent their proxies to do just that.”
However, Iran is not the only country supporting the Palestinian terror groups against Israel during this latest round of violence.
MEMRI reported that in reaction to these attacks, prominent Al Qaeda supporter Warith Al Qassam shared a video of Israelis taking shelter, proclaiming: “Great news to see the humiliation in the face of the Jews due to the rockets fired by the militias of the Rafidha (derogatory phrase to describe Shias and pro-Iran groups).” Syria-based Saudi jihadi cleric Abdullah Al-Muheiseni shared a video and claimed that it documents the rockets that “poured on Zionists like rain.” He further prayed to Allah to extend his support to those who are defending Al-Quds, the first Qibla. Pro-ISIS media outlets have also called upon the Palestinian terror groups to “wage jihad” against the Jews.
According to the Turkish media, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan “”highlighted the importance of Turkey and Qatar’s joint effort to mobilize regional countries and the international community against Israel’s attacks against Al-Quds, the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Palestinians.” He had nothing to say about the rocket attacks targeting Israeli civilians.
To the contrary, amid this escalation, MEMRI reported that the International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS), supported by Qatar and Turkey, praised the “heroic jihad operations” of the “jihad fighters in Palestine,” as well as the young Palestinians who are “deployed on the battlefront” in Jerusalem. The sermon states that “the Muslims’ foremost duty is to wage jihad by sacrificing their souls” for Al-Aqsa. It adds that whoever is unable to come to the battlefront himself must help the jihad fighters with money, and thus “illuminate Al-Aqsa,” just as the Palestinians who are deployed on the front illuminate it with their blood and their souls.

However, not everyone is supporting the Palestinian terror groups. Hamid Mutashar, founder of the Liberal Al Ahwaz Party, declared: “The Ahwazi Liberal Party condemns in the strongest terms Hamas for firing rockets at Israel and the fact that they are terrorizing women, children and other civilians. We also strongly condemn the riots that are inspired by Hamas, the Islamic Jihad and other terror groups.”
Shipan Kumer Basu, a Bangladeshi Hindu who heads the World Hindu Struggle Committee, has condemned the rocket fire in the strongest terms, as well as the reaction of the Bangladeshi government to the riots on the Temple Mount: “The Bangladeshi government has condemned the State of Israel. The Bangladeshi government should not have condemned the State of Israel. Bangladesh does not have the right to comment on this issue until they actually establish diplomatic relations with Israel. The Bangladeshi government’s reaction was merely an expression of their sectarianism and hatred of Israel.”
Prasanna Kumar Roy, a prominent businessman from West Bengal, India and chief financial adviser to the World Hindu Struggle Committee, said the Bangladesh government should establish relations with Jerusalem and promote good relations between the two countries instead of condemning Israel as the Palestinians fire rockets at it. According to Basu, the Hindus, Christians and Buddhists in Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan are not hostile towards Israel.
