Supporters of the controversial Foodbenders restaurant began posting defamatory and hateful comments against Toronto Sun columnist Sue Ann Levy for covering the story

It is now 11 days since I wrote about Foodbenders and its decision to shut shop reportedly to fight for the right to viciously attack Zionists.

The online harassment I’ve been subject to as a result of that story has not abated.

At last count I’ve received 50 phone calls, texts and emails from online platforms, apps and other digital services.

That’s because the friends of Foodbenders and owner/operator Kimberley Hawkins have decided to teach me a lesson, it seems, by signing me up for services I don’t want or need.

For 11 days I’ve been harassed by digital sales agents eager to offer me a demo of their product.  I had no idea there were so many online platforms. When the calls didn’t subside, I took to writing them back to tell them it wasn’t me who signed up for their services but some Jew haters who didn’t like the story I did on Dec. 6.

Many were appalled with the fact that people would actually do this. Others also expressed dismay that these people were wasting their company’s time and resources to pursue a fake lead.

But the Jew haters don’t care.

It all started when Hawkins announced on Dec. 5 on Instagram that she was closing the doors of her  Bloordale catering company to fight the four legal cases against her, ones she claims hold “very serious consequences for free speech” in Canada.

When I contacted Hawkins by e-mail for a comment for a story, she posted my e-mail on her page,  together with my business phone number and e-mail address. Like someone who throws out a dead carcass for the vultures to attack, she told her supporters I was “obsessed” with her and urged them to contact me (in other words to harass me).

The supporters began posting all kinds of comments about me on her Instagram page—many defamatory and most hateful.

A Toronto sound artist by the name of Anthony Robert Boire posted this:

“God I fucking hate her, the hateful bigoted witch. There should be a parade in the streets when she kicks the bucket.”

Hawkins promptly blocked me from her Instagram page after that as bullies typically do.

The fact that I lost my sweet dad to COVID on Nov. 29 didn’t faze the haters one bit.

In fact they used that to try to torment me, hijacking my own Instagram page and the picture I posted of my dad and me with comments that he’d be ashamed of me and that I should stick to grieving instead of bothering people fighting for Palestinian rights, among other sickening comments.

I even got e-mails from self-loathing Jews, purporting to be “Jews of conscience,” in which they lectured me about anti-Semitism.

The great irony is that it was Hawkins’ outrageous behaviour – her antisemitic posts noting that Zionists were not welcome in her store, labelling Zionists as “greedy and entitled” and saying Zionists “control the media” – that caused major delivery apps like Uber Eats to sever ties with her.

It was only her behaviour on Instagram – and not anyone writing about her  – that resulted in the lawsuits against her, suppliers refusing to stock her food and the decline in her business during COVID. It was as if she had a death wish.

Instead of retreating, she doubled down, continuing well into the fall to call for boycotts of Israel and its products and making egregious posts about Israel on her Instagram page.

She painted herself the hapless victim, asking for donations for her legal efforts.

It is perhaps telling of the level of anti-Semitism globally that she managed to raise $47,000 before being shut down by PayPal as well.

I would never profess to understand the mind of a Jew hater but it would seem that as the months have progressed and her Instagram following has grown (with like minded characters) Hawkins started to view herself as the great warrior for free speech and for the Palestine cause.

I highly doubt the courts will view her diatribe the same way.

Our positioning as a Zionist News Media platform sets us apart from the rest. While other Canadian Jewish media are advocating increasingly biased progressive political and social agendas, TheJ.Ca is providing more and more readers with a welcome alternative and an ideological home.

We revealed the incursion of anti-Israel progressive elements such as IfNotNow into our communities. We have exposed the distorted hateful agenda of the “progressive” left political radicals who brought Linda Sarsour to our cities, and we were first to report on many disturbing incidents of Nazi-based hate towards Jews across Canada.
