Foodbenders Saga Far From Over

In the haze of complete ignorance about Israel, Gaza and the Mideast, Foodbenders’ owner appears to be enjoying the attention, no matter how antisemitic her newfound friends are.

When we last left Kimberley Hawkins and her anti-Zionist vitriol more than six weeks ago, she’d been sidelined, and her hate exposed in the Jewish media, and by major advocacy groups.

Several delivery apps – Uber Eats, DoorDash, Ritual and Square – had cut ties with her Bloordale catering company, Foodbenders, and Hawkins had been served both with a $750,000 defamation lawsuit by Toronto designer Shai DeLuca, and two separate complaints to the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal.

For a few weeks in July, the Jewish community was on high alert about her anti-Zionist/antisemitic Instagram posts, and the use of her store to promote her apparent love of Gaza and her disdain towards Toronto police.

For a time, Hawkins seemed to tone down her anti-Semitic rants, which called Zionists “greedy and entitled,” said Zionists control the media, and claimed they behaved like Nazis, and including the hashtag, “Zionists not welcome” in her store.  She even offered a half-hearted apology.

Her contrition lasted a matter of a few weeks.

By mid-August she was back on Instagram, appearing not to have learned a damn thing—while admitting her business has suffered.

In a pitch, she pleaded for contributions to her legal defence fund – called the “Palilegalfund” – to help her fight for her rights (in other words fund her lawsuits) and to allow her to operate as a “hub for social justice organizing” in Toronto’s Bloordale community.

She crassly and without an ounce of insight blamed the “Israel lobby” for causing her troubles, and for lodging a “full-frontal assault on her.” That post – coupled with her actions in the weeks that followed – triggered Jew haters worldwide.

She almost obsessively encouraged her followers to support Dimitri Lascaris for head of the federal Green Party – the lawyer who has repeatedly acted for the Al Quds organization and like

Hawkins repeatedly insists his anti-Zionist vitriol has nothing to do with anti-Semitism.

Hawkins, seeming not to care that she is facing a lawsuit and two human rights complaints, ramped up her outrageous anti-Zionist vitriol on her Instagram feed, including a series of pictures of balloons in Palestinian colours flying in her store — similar to the incendiary balloons with explosives attached being sent from Hamas in Gaza into southern Israel. She called her balloons “solidarity balloons”and said they are meant to demand an immediate end to the alleged “brutal siege” and “endless violence” against the people of Gaza.

Hawkins also called for reviews of a Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot wine made in the West Bank and sold at the LCBO, stating the wine has a “very sour aftertaste, heavy with notes of illegal occupation and dehumanization of the Palestinian people.”

About the same time she enabled the comments on her posts to Israel haters from around the world, while indicating that any “copaganda” and comments from Hasbara would be deleted and blocked.

That permitted her pro-Palestinian, Jew-hating supporters – from all corners of the world—to comment unchecked on her Instagram page referring to Zionists as “Ziopigs” and “Ziorats.”

The comments, so anti-Semitic and so virulently anti-Jew, are sickening to read.

Last week, while on a well-publicized week off, Hawkins’ posted a picture of the front window of her store smashed around 11 p.m. one night.

It should come as no surprise that both Hawkins and her supporters blamed the Zionists. Her supporters even went so far as to claim the police won’t investigate because Zionists and the police are in bed with each other.

Hawkins has repeatedly refused to respond to requests from me to comment on her vitriol.  It would be easy to say, ignore this hateful woman and she’ll go away. However, she hasn’t and she won’t.

In the haze of her complete ignorance about Israel, Gaza and the Mideast, she appears to be enjoying the attention, no matter how antisemitic her newfound friends are.

Trouble is, the advocates and politicians — who’d be tweeting and holding virtue-signalling photo ops if Hawkins had directed her venom at Muslims or blacks — remain silent.

Hawkins knows full well Jews are expendable in our new wacky world of politically correct causes.

We do news differently!

Our positioning as a Zionist News Media platform sets us apart from the rest. While other Canadian Jewish media are advocating increasingly biased progressive political and social agendas, TheJ.Ca is providing more and more readers with a welcome alternative and an ideological home.

We revealed the incursion of anti-Israel progressive elements such as IfNotNow into our communities. We have exposed the distorted hateful agenda of the “progressive” left political radicals who brought Linda Sarsour to our cities, and we were first to report on many disturbing incidents of Nazi-based hate towards Jews across Canada.
