While the world was dealing with COVID-19, a genocide was unfolding in China.

China’s Uyghur population numbers between 10- and 20 million and they mostly reside in an area called East Turkestan or Western Xinjiang.

Since 2017 rumours arose that China was cracking down on the Uyghurs and other minorities, and torturing them. According to the UN Committee on the elimination Elimination of Racial Discrimination, two million Uyghurs have been forced into “political camps for indoctrination.”

They have been put through harsh “deradicalization” pogroms under the guise that they were terrorists. Here the Uyghurs were tortured, raped, mocked, and subjected to “ideological brainwashing.” The kind of torture the Uyghurs are being exposed to are is unthinkable in this day and age. Parents are forcefully separated from their kids, their health is on the decline, they are forced to give DNA samples, and their organs are harvested.

The reason, according to experts on China, is that the nation wants to make a road across the country for trade purposes. This road has to run through East Turkestan and China needs to occupy this area.z

There has been a deafening silence from the OIC (Organisation of Islamic Conference) and other Muslim leaders on this issue. In fact, Muslim majority countries like Turkey have a trading relationship with China while Pakistan continues business as usual. It’s horrifying that Muslims who will globally rise against any deemed injustice in the Middle East with regards to Palestine, will not publicly condemn what China is doing. There has also been silence from many Western leaders and it makes you wonder why human rights can become so selective for some people.

Recently leaked communist Communist party Party documents (called the China Cables) confirm plans for chains of Chinese internment camps to detain at least a million Muslim minorities while giving detailed instructions on how to run the camps emphasizing that there should be no escape and no ‘leak.’

While China furiously denies that these reports are false, they were uncovered by ICIJ (The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists) and shared with The Guardian, the BBC, and other media outlets. The Guardian reported, “Documents confirm largest mass incarceration of an ethnic-religious minority since Second World War.”

Maajid Nawaz, the founder of the UK-based Quilliam Foundation based in the U.K., urges people not to stay silent and allow a genocide to happen again.

Explaining the horror that is unfolding, Maajid retweeted an NBC News article which reports, “The organs of members of marginalized groups detained in Chinese prison camps are being forcefully harvested — sometimes when patients are still alive . . . [They are] killed for their organs to serve a booming transplant trade that is worth some $1 billion a year.”

These reports are verified by the London-based China Tribunal which is, a nongovernmental tribunal to inquire about forced organ harvesting in China. It is headquartered in London.

In the USA, Rep. Glenn Grothman, the GOP’s ranking member on Oversight’s Subcommittee on National Security, appealed for an immediate hearing on the CCP’s “genocide” in China.

A July protest in Toronto assailed China for the oppression of the Uyghur minority

The Trump administration has announced sanctions against the CCP while the U.S.S Commission on International Religious Freedom called on the State Department to investigate whether China’s reported campaign of forced birth control and abortion against the Uyghur population constitutes genocide.

In Canada the SDIR (Subcommittee on International Human Rights of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development (SDIR) held hearings on the “Human human rights situation of the Uyghurs” on July 20 and 21. The hearings were preceded by a rally “Toronto Stands Against the Chinese communist Communist regime” held by The International Center for Human Rights in Canada in front of the Chinese consulate, which was attended by one hundred100 protesters. This issue represents a situation in which the whole world should rise against China – and stop trading with them until they remedy their human rights situation.
