Peel Regional Police have confirmed to the Israeli Canadian Council (ICC) that two separate investigations are underway resulting from complaints the organization filed about events surrounding the “Day of Rage“ protest in Mississauga last Saturday.

ICC was informed that the complaints quickly landed on the desk of the Police Chief and that the matter is being taken very seriously.

The first investigation is a criminal case, looking into the antisemitic chant of “Jews are our dogs” heard chanted at Celebration Square at the start of the anti-annexation protest.

The second investigation is internal, looking at the conduct of 3 Peel Police officers seen posing for a photo with CD4HR manager Firas Al Najim and members of his antisemitic organization.

The bike cops can be seen flanked by Al Najim to their left holding a “NO TO ANNEXATION” sign, while two supporters of CD4HR held a Palestinian flag with Al Quds mosque embossed in its centre and Arabic writing claiming complete ownership of Jerusalem and ‘Palestine’.

The photo was uploaded to the CD4HR Twitter account with the caption “Many of the @PeelPolice supported the liberation of Palestine & call #NoToAnnexation.”

Peel Police Officers being investigated for posing in questionable photo op

TheJ.Ca was told that Peel Regional Police expressed concerns about the optics of the photo given the sensitivity surrounding the Israel-Palestine conflict, and considering the recent spike in Antisemitic incidents across Canada and specifically in Mississauga and the GTA.

Jews are already the most targeted group for hate crimes in Canada and shouldn’t have to be confronted with the police seeming to take a political stance on Israeli-Palestinian issues.

TheJ.Ca will continue to monitor this developing story and provide updates as they become available.

We do news differently!

Our positioning as a Zionist News Media platform sets us apart from the rest. While other Canadian Jewish media are advocating increasingly biased progressive political and social agendas, TheJ.Ca is providing more and more readers with a welcome alternative and an ideological home.

We revealed the incursion of anti-Israel progressive elements such as IfNotNow into our communities. We have exposed the distorted hateful agenda of the “progressive” left political radicals who brought Linda Sarsour to our cities, and we were first to report on many disturbing incidents of Nazi-based hate towards Jews across Canada.

But we can’t do it alone. We need your HELP!

Our ability to thrive and grow in 2020 and beyond depends on the generosity of committed readers and supporters like you.
