The root of all modern-day evils for the new left is colonialism, and Israel is, they claim, a colonialist power.

After a three-month lockdown, the keyboard anti-Israel and assorted social justice warriors – who fancy themselves protectors of the Palestinian state – have made their ugly presence known once again in downtown Toronto.
Mostly Millennials or younger and mostly left-wing radicals who’ve never visited the Jewish state, their antisemitic tirades, dressed in the guise of anti-Zionism, have ramped up in a disturbing manner in recent weeks.
This is in part due to the lack of leadership of our politicians at levels of government and increasingly due to the fact that they know all manner of hate speech is frowned upon if it involves blacks or Muslims but that Jews are considered dispensable in our society.
I had a chance to visit Toronto’s Foodbenders catering shop a few days ago where owner Kimberley Hawkins has caused a tremendous stir for her hateful postings on Instagram and her sidewalk signage – since her catering business reopened — first about the police and subsequently about Zionists.
Over the past few weeks Hawkins – who also put out a sign outside her store calling for defunding of Israel – has variously posted that “Zionists are not welcome” in her shop, that Zionists are “greedy and entitled’; that they’re “Nazis” and that Israel is a “terrorist state that kills little babies.”
She also posted that the Canadian media and politicians are being influenced by Zionist forces – claiming in a recent post that while she has a problem with Zionists, she “loves Jews.”
When I asked her what exactly is the difference between Zionists and Jews – since 90% of Jews are Zionists and have strong ties to Israel – she told me to Google the question.

After I entered the shop a second time to give her a final chance to comment for my story, she accused me of “badgering” her while two other patrons/friends began screaming the “f-word” at me.
“You need to get the f—out of here,” screamed one woman, who like most leftist SJWs and bullies, would not give her name. Calling me a “hateful f—” more than once, she ordered me out of the store, off the sidewalk and out of the neighbourhood.
So much for loving Jews.
BLM movement had a strong presence in Toronto and worldwide during “Day of Rage” protests
The hatred continued Saturday afternoon in downtown Toronto – right outside the Israeli consulate – when about 200 angry Israel haters blocked the busy Bloor and Yonge intersection raging for two hours about the Jewish state, the police and white supremacists who allegedly oppress both Palestinians and blacks.
The “Days of Rage” event was one of two in the GTA – the other took place in Mississauga – and among seven held in US cities and Canada from July 1-4 to protest the plan by the Israeli government to annex parts of the West Bank. That plan has been put on hold.
The well-organized protest, held not uncoincidentally on Shabbat, was attended by the usual suspects such as Stephen Ellis, head of Toronto’s BDS Coalition, Kafir Bangis, who sits on the Al Quds committee, along with the three Neturei Karta rabbis/self-loathing Jews trotted out at every anti-Israel protest.
Despite the scorching sun, the protesters, were unrelenting in their vitriol, chanting for hours and making outrageous claims about Israel like Gaza is an “open air prison,” that 500-800 Palestinians are jailed by the Israelis per year and that unspeakable “atrocities” are carried out against women imprisoned in Gaza.
Members of the Black Lives Matter movement spoke about their solidarity with the Palestinian cause. The president of the York Federation of Students, in fact, referred to last November’s violent clash at York University – when anti-Israel protesters tried to disrupt former IDF members from speaking – as the “same fight for liberation” as that experienced by the black community.
Meanwhile Hawkins, posted on Instagram Saturday that for the past six weeks she’s been harassed by “white supremacist Muslim-hating losers” but she won’t stop posting her anti-Zionist messages until “Palestine is free”.
