After a brief visit by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to Israel, who undoubtedly discussed this important issue with the Netanyahu and coalition partner Benny Gantz, the path is clear for Israel to fully apply sovereignty to Area C as stipulated in the Oslo Accords, as well as the Jordan Valley, as laid out in Trump’s Middle East peace plan, in which Israel will manage civilly and militarily. This adds up to a mere 30 per cent of all of the lands in the “West Bank”.

Judea and Samaria’s rights have solely belonged to Israel since its Independence Day in 1948. Israel is the only nation in the world that has the right to the former British Mandate to apply its sovereignty, ensuring that a Jewish state in its indigenous lands can be fulfilled.
Many leftist politicians, diplomats and thought-leaders around the world who think they act in Israel’s best interest, believe that the “annexation endeavour” will only result in the opposite of peace. They are categorically wrong. It is false to state that Israelis do not want peace. As seen through rejection after rejection, Palestinian leaders (and a huge swath of Palestinians) do not want to compromise, or to live in a shared territory with Israelis.

The extremist Palestinians must give up their ongoing unsuccessful fight, which has involved terrorism and a deliberate worldwide antisemitism campaign.
There is precedent here for how applying Israeli law can only benefit Israel and the international community as a whole. In 1980, when Israel applied sovereignty to the Golan Heights after it rightfully won it in a defensive war. Security in the Middle East drastically improved, and allowed for the IDF to re-allocate its resources to more pressing matters.
With regard to American support for Israel’s greater sovereignty, it has already happened. The US support for Israel’s sovereignty over its territories, came last year when President Trump proclaimed that the Golan Heights are indeed part of sovereign Israeli territory. Even the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital could fall under this successful criterion, as well.
Israel, finally, is fighting for its own territory in the court of public opinion, claiming the land has been its rightful territory all along.
No longer will Israel need to share governing powers with the Palestinian Authority, with a full-on military administration under the IDF. Just under 500,000 Israelis live under this control, and will now be able to live under proper Israeli civil law.
The IDF will be able to focus on less tedious administrative-based tasks, and get back to their prime task of defending the Jewish state at all necessary costs. By applying its laws to the Jordan Valley, Israel will be able to defend itself in the fullest way possible against any potential threat. Trump’s plan makes it clear that without control over this region permanently, Israel remains an open target.
It all starts with Judea and Samaria, the lands that have always been part of Israel.
